Kitty Gordon Dot Com and What’s New
Back when I first decided to create an artist website I wanted to use the domain kittygordon.com only to find out that it was already taken by a band in Austin, Texas called Kitty Gordon. So I decided on kittygsculpture.com instead. Periodically, for fun, I would check to see if kittygordon.com was still in use. At some point the band gave up the domain (because they broke up?) and the URL then pointed to some Asian website; I couldn’t tell what it was. That was definitely disappointing. At least when Kitty Gordon the band was using that domain it made sense to me.
Recently I decided to see what came up when I typed kittygordon.com into my web browser and was delighted to find that the domain was available! Needless to say, I snapped it up. Now it points to kittygsculpture.com. Go ahead, see for yourself.
In addition to securing my place as THE Kitty Gordon on the Internet, I have been going down an interesting intellectual rabbit hole as I dive into new work. I so very much enjoyed painting my pedestal table last year and I am interested in continuing that type of work this year.

I have always been intrigued by mandalas and it was fun laying out and painting the design featured on the top of the table. So as last year drew to a close I began drawing ideas for more mandala paintings.
Soon I found myself engrossed in figuring out the geometry of what was possible within these kinds of designs. I have often used math in my art making. I even created a series of sculptures based on a system of number sets that I created which became an art exhibition at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts in 2006 called Permutations. In pursuit of more mathematical knowledge, I came across a lovely little book at the library called Sacred Geometry published by Wooden Books in the UK. That led me to want to read many of their other books. With titles such as Fractals, Golden Section, and Islamic Design how could I not be intrigued.
The book I am currently reading is Ruler and Compass and I am thoroughly enjoying learning how to use a compass as an aid to my design creation. I am discovering that the things you can do with a compass are amazing. I know it’s math but it feels like magic.
